Towers Dominate in Nashville
In their second year of national competition, the New York Towers were able to achieve their ultimate goal that they set forth at the beginning of 2010. That goal was to win Gold at the DAAA National tournament which was held in Nashville, TN July 6th, 2010. With a solid year of practice under their belt, the Towers showed that hard work and determination truly does pay off.
The competition was fierce, but it was clear that their preparation, coupled with their incredible basketball skill, helped set them apart from the field. In a much anticipated championship matchup versus the Statesmen, the Towers played incredibly strong defense, smothering the Statesmen and shutting them out in the first half. Leading 19-0 at half time, the Towers backed off their press and played even better half court defense. We all know that good defense leads to great offense, and that’s exactly what happened. Speedsters Jahmani Swanson and Justin Tompkins led the charge in the championship game and throughout the tournament. Their ability to attract defenders led to a breakout game by fellow Towers player Conor Ennis, who was able to connect on a four point play in the final game.
More to come later as I’ll finish recapping a great National Championship victory by the New York Towers…..
